Position Description

POSITION CODE AND TITLE:  D-1  MANAGER, HUMAN RESOURCES
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages a staff responsible for the communication, interpretation and administration of corporate human resource policies and programs for a department or line of business.  Interfaces directly with all areas of the Human Resources department regarding compensation, benefits, employment and employee relations.  Counsels management on the interpretation of corporate human resources policy.  Controls the various human resources processes for the department or line of business (e.g., salary increases, job evaluation, benefits eligibility, grievances, etc.).  Represents the department or group on human resources related committees.  Works with management to identify necessary human resources policy or program changes and recommends these to the appropriate Human Resource area.  Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Supervision Received: May report to the Area Human Resources Director or the head of a Business Unit.
Supervision Exercised: Has supervisory responsibility for the department/group staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree and at least five years experience in human resources, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.  Requires excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and all levels of management and staff.
